ICW Fight Club 71 Review

After dipping back into ICW last week, I figured why not keep going? Fight Club 71 was filmed in my home city of Edinburgh, but I was on holiday, so I missed it. Thankfully, the internet provides and with a main event involving Chris Renfrew and Mikey Whiplash doing all sorts of horrible things to each other, this was always going to be worth a watch. ICW Fight Club 70 Review

Since last year’s Fear & Loathing I’ve fallen out of touch with ICW. I haven’t had the chance to attend any shows and haven’t watched a Fight Club in far too long. Luckily, the internet has kept me informed on all the significant dealings (good and bad), but I’m out of the loop. I reckon it’s time to change that. This year’s F&L is around the corner, and the hype is beginning to build. With Fight Club 70 up on YouTube, it was time to see what was happening in Scotland’s wildest promotion. Fear and Loathing VIII

The build to ICW’s show at the SECC has been a long one.  The biggest British wrestling event since the 80’s, it all seemed a bit improbable and fans and performers alike seemed to share the feeling that it was a bit of a dream.  This couldn’t actually be happening, could it?  Well, it did and on Sunday the 15th of November ICW took the SECC by storm and showed the world that this is where they deserve to be.

In ten day’s ICW will put on Fear and Loathing VIII at the SECC.  It’s the biggest gate for a British wrestling show since Giant Haystacks fought Big Daddy at Wembley Arena and that alone is one hell of an achievement.  When you consider that there will be no one under the age of eighteen at the show, it is even more impressive.  ICW have set out to prove that if you offer a genuine alternative to the crap we’ve all been being fed for the last few years, the people will come.
