Marvelous Osaka (14/10/22) Review

It’s worth mentioning at the start (mainly so I don’t have to keep repeating it throughout) that Marvelous had some technical problems on this show. That meant the video quality was a bit dodgy, and matches occasionally skipped ahead a few seconds or went into fast-forward as they tried to catch up. It wasn’t enough to make it unwatchable, at least for me, but your mileage may vary. Anyway, that aside, this looked like a stacked card on paper, so let’s see what went down.

TJPW Wrestle Princess III (9/10/22) Review

Wrestle Princess has cemented its position as one of TJPW’s biggest shows, and the card for the third iteration was no different. Tokyo Joshi gave us the return of Max the Impaler, put every title on the line, and more. It made this a show that I have been incredibly excited about, so all it had to do was live up to my very high expectations. Could it? Let’s find out.

TJPW Autumn Tour (16/9/22) Review

After a quiet couple of weeks, TJPW were back in Shinkiba to start making moves toward Wrestle Princess. The main event of this show decided who would challenge for the International Title while the semi-main put Shoko and Yuka on opposite sides of the ring. I’ve always got a base level of excitement for big TJPW shows, but let’s see if this manages to push me over the edge.

Marvelous (16/9/22) Review

The Marvelous roster has had a busy old month bouncing around Japan (and they’re not done yet), but they were back in the more familiar territory of Shinkiba for this show and in front of an audience who were permitted to make noise. It’s funny that such a simple thing is now capable of making me so happy, but it is a delight watching wrestlers hear people shout their name again (Mio particularly milked it), and it had this show in my good books before it had even started.

Marvelous Oita (11/9/22) Review

Marvelous have been all over the place recently, bouncing around Japan to catch up with the fans they haven’t been able to visit over the last few years or, as was the case on this show, ever before. It was their first-ever trip to Oita, and with all their other travels having delivered some lovely times so far, it seemed unlikely this would buck the trend, but hey, let’s find out.

TJPW Go Girl 3 (28/8/22) Review

Go Girl 3 is a somewhat different Korakuen from TJPW’s usual fare. Typically, these shows aim to be blow-offs, packed with title matches and big showdowns, but that’s not the case this time. Instead, this is a card designed as an introduction and a way to try and convince the entirely female audience (who all got in for free) that Tokyo Joshi could be something for them. I love these shows, and while I can’t claim to accurately reflect the views of a group of Japanese women, I can at least keep you up to date on what one lad in Scotland thinks.
