After a short break from reviewing Marvelous shows (it wasn’t through choice, they were going through one of those periods where they don’t want my money), we’re back! And I couldn’t be happier. Yes, Marvelous’s erratic approach to making their shows available to foreign fans can be frustrating, but they’re still the best, so my forgiveness comes easily.

With Miyu Yamashita, Maki Itoh and Yuka Sakazaki still in America, TJPW were missing a few big hitters for their first show in a couple of weeks. Thankfully, they had a plan. We’ve got a five-on-five tournament (with matches decided via a somewhat unique system) between senpais and kohais. After their packed Golden Week, TJPW understandably took a week off to recharge. However, with CyberFight Festival less than a month away, it was time for them to back out there and start the build for that. Unfortunately, Yuka is still in America, so we’ll have to wait to see her and Shoko face off, but plenty of other people were around to pick up the slack.

TJPW finished up their busy Golden Week with a trip to Osaka. With it being a journey they only make a handful of times a year, they always make an effort to bring something a little special along, and this was no different as they had a couple of big guests and an exciting eight-person tag. TJPW’s busy Golden Week continued with the biggest show of the lot, as they hit up a sold-out Korakuen (superhero vs kaiju confirmed draw) for a topsy turvy card. With AEW requesting Yuka Sakazaki’s presence on short notice, MagiRabbi vs Free WiFi was going to have to open this one so she could rush off to the airport, meaning things were all a bit backwards. Still, no matter what order the matches come in, it was TJPW in Korakuen, a combo that rarely misses.

Six beautiful years of Marvelous. Okay, I haven’t been there since the start, but everything I’ve seen is beautiful, so I’m willing to bet the rest is too. They celebrated their birthday in Korakuen Hall by crowing a new era of AAAW tag-team champions, so their seventh year was getting off to an exciting start.

With Golden Week underway in Japan, we are in the midst of wrestling overload. TJPW alone are running four shows, so the odds of me keeping up with everything are slim. Still, I do try to review all the live Tokyo Joshi events, and I’m not one to give up at the first hurdle (unless it’s really high), so let’s get into event number one.
