AJW Throwback: AJW Classics Episode 15 Review

Don’t mess!

Episode 15 of AJW Classics is absolutely packed with matches, the vast majority of which are people making their debuts. We’re about to be introduced to a lot of joshi royalty for the first time, but there maybe someone unexpected about to steal the show. Confused? Well, you better read on.

AJW Throwback: AJW Classics Episode 14 Review

Omori goes full badass.

We’re into August of 1986, and a few changes are coming in the world of AJW. It’s not so much a changing of the guard, as a shifting of it, but it leads to some interesting things down the road, so it’s probably worth getting excited about. Anyway, onto episode 14!

AJW Throwback: AJW Classics Episode 11 Review

No disaffecting happening here.

With the success of Assemble, I’m feeling particularly warm and fuzzy towards the old-guard of joshi. The sight of Chigusa and Akira Hokuto hanging out and having a lovely old time has kept me happy during a period where everything else has been a bit shit. So, a chance to go back and spend time with their younger versions is not to be sniffed at. All the matches on episode 11 of AJW Classics came from the same show as we were in Osaka on the 20th of March 1986.

Stardom Throwback: Sendai Girls’ Flash Tournament (27/10/11) Review

Unfazed. Credit: Sendai Girls

It’s time for a slight tangent in our run through Stardom’s history. Before the next show on Stardom World, they sent a team to Sendai Girl’s Flash Tournament. Featuring entrants from JWP, WAVE, Stardom, Ice Ribbon, Sendai Girls, Reina, Diana and a freelance team, it was the Assemble of its day, making it a fitting show to cover at the moment. Plus it gives us a chance to have a wee peek at what was going on in different companies.

Stardom Throwback: Wonderful Stars (20/9/11) Review

As active as Dragon got. Credit: Stardom

Sadly, due to Stardom not having their entire back catalogue up on World, we’ve had to leap forward a couple of months in our trawl through their history. There were five shows in the period we’ve missed, with a few interesting results scattered throughout them. However, the biggest thing to happen was the debut of someone called Io Shirai? Can’t say I know much about her, but I guess we’ll see how she gets on.

Stardom Throwback: Stardom X Stardom – Nanae Takahashi’s 15th Anniversary (24/7/11) Review

Our first champ! Credit: Stardom

Stardom’s first trip to Korakuen Hall coincided with Nanae Takahashi’s 15th anniversary, leading to a packed building and a chance for the company to make a statement. They sought to do so by putting together their biggest card yet and one which has spawned at least one iconic match (although it’s probably not the one anyone would have expected). On top of that, they created two titles and picked up another, which has to go down as being a pretty good day in the office.

Quick note, you might notice that this show isn’t on Stardom World. On the whole, I’ll be sticking to things they have uploaded, but this felt like such a biggie that I had to search it out. Fingers crossed Rossy will forgive me.
