Confession time. I was determined going into 2025 to watch more Ice Ribbon, but, as is often the case, I failed. Time, money and all those other boring things got in the way. However, with Ribbonmania closing out the year, I decided to pop back in, see what was going down and have a ramble about it. With that in mind, I apologise if I’m missing any context here. I’m sure there’s someone else out there who can fill in the gaps.

After a very successful trip to Ota City, Ice Ribbon returned to Korakuen for the first of Tsukushi’s title defences. In a nice role reversal, she faced the person she provided the first defence for last year, Suzu Suzuki. That also happened to be one of 2020’s best matches, so there were rather large expectations on their shoulders. Let’s see if they could live up to them.

Recently, I’ve moved away from reviewing shows that haven’t aired live because, to be honest, there are only so many hours in the day. However, some things are worth ignoring made-up rules for, and Tsukushi Haruka going after the big one is one of those things. It didn’t matter when this aired. I wasn’t going to miss the chance to talk about a match like that one.

If you put Aja Kong vs Yuuki Mashiro on a wrestling card, I will be there. Honestly, that could have been the only match on this show, and Ice Ribbon would still have earned my money, so the fact there are some other exciting looking tidbits is a bonus. C’mon, Yuuki, it’s time to take down a legend!

I feel like I’ve had a weird relationship with Ice Ribbon in 2021. A combination of things not airing live and a lack of time and money has had me constantly playing catch-up or missing out on a lot of what they’re up to. Still, when I do tune in, I tend to have a lovely time, even with the rather major caveat that I’ll get into later in this review.
