Ramblings About’s Top Twenty Albums Of 2019

Spoilers.

It’s that time of year where I decide that what the world needs is for me to put together lists of the shit I like because, you know, I don’t ramble on about that stuff enough. We’re kicking things off with my twenty favourite albums of 2019 and, if I do say so myself, it is quite a list. Personally, I think I have exceptional taste in music, so I can only congratulate me on how well I’m doing.

Quick note to tell you all to support musicians. If you click on the bands’ names throughout this list, it should take you to their Bandcamp (or in some cases website) where you can give them money (usually in exchange for something). Why not treat yourself to a post-Christmas gift? You might love it as much as I do.

Baroness w/ No Spill Blood

Starting reviews with personal stories is always a danger, so if you aren’t interested in this one skip to the next paragraph. The last time I saw Baroness in Glasgow was in a tiny sweatbox, and I had to leave ten minutes into their set. I was ill, and the heat made me want to puke, which I did ten minutes later in a nearby alley. A few weeks later they were involved in a bus crash that would nearly destroy their career.  The chance to see them once again off arguably the best album of their career is one I wasn’t going to miss.

Top 20 Albums of the Year

Today I am going to tell you my top twenty albums of the year, but before I get to that I think it would be remiss of me to not mention the death of Lemmy Kilmister.  There are going to be a thousand people writing a thousand words about Lemmy over the next few days.  Most of whom are in a better place to do so than me.  However, for my two pence, the man was rock and roll.  Few have lived as fast and as loud as Lemmy and none of them have done it until the age of 70.  His blend of punk rock attitude with rock and roll has been influential on everyone who likes to play loud and he will he be missed.  In tribute today, I suggest you play your music a lot louder and live life just that little bit wilder.  Anyway, on with the show.
