TJPW have made popping to Nagoya before Christmas a bit of a tradition in recent years, and with the addition of hometown girl Yuki Arai to the roster, this was a chance for the company to make some new fans. So far, Arai has stepped up to every test they’ve thrown at her, but this was her biggest yet, as she took on the Ace, Miyu Yamashita, in the main event. Would she stumble? I’m writing this before watching the match, but I would put the house I don’t own on no.

Not that any of them are designed to make you jump, at least not yet. I’ve watched enough horror films to know that something scary could pop up at any moment, so I’m never going to rule it out. I would love to know who comes up with the Tokyo Joshi show names. What made them decide on this part of the tour being labelled, ‘The Bullet’? It seems awfully violent for a company that generally goes with things like ‘Winter Lovers’ and ‘Change the Wind Direction’. Is this what happens when Itoh goes to AEW and spends time with those people?

TJPW Winter Lovers (20/2/21) Review

After smashing it out the park with their latest Korakuen, Tokyo Joshi is moving into tag team territory, putting together a tournament that shows off how quietly brilliant their division is. Usually these things lean on thrown together teams, loose alliances coming together for a short time, and while there is a few of those, it’s also packed with recognised pairings. It’s a change that makes several of these match-ups all the more exciting, and it promises to be an enjoyable ride.

Ramblings About’s Match Of The Year: Best Of The Rest Part 1

According to some, 2020 has been a lousy year for wrestling, an opinion fuelled by New Japan not doing what people want them to do and an aversion to the dreaded clap crowds. Unfortunately, no-one told my match of the year list, which was quite frankly unwieldy. So yes, this is part one of the best of the rest because when I started writing it very quickly got out of hand. Excessive? Perhaps, but despite its many faults, wrestling is still the best, so a bit of excess isn’t too bad.
