After a short break, the G1 strolled back into Tokyo with an intrigue packed card. It will never cease to amaze me that I can wake up on a normal Thursday morning and watch Kota Ibushi vs Will Ospreay. How awesome is that? Why would you not watch wrestling? And if you do watch wrestling, why would you not watch New Japan? If you’re that person, get your fucking head examined.

My spoiler-free must-see recommendations are EVIL vs SANADA, Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Zack Sabre Jr. and Will Ospreay vs Kota Ibushi.

Night three of the G1 was a hell of a card with the dream match between KENTA and Tanahashi proving the cherry on the cake for something that promised to be special. Let’s stop blabbing and get right into it.

Ramblings About’s Top Ten Matches Of June 2019

I haven’t watched as much wrestling as I would have liked this month (which is still too much wrestling by most people’s standards), so this is sadly another New Japan heavy list. It’s not as fun doing that, as I imagine most people will have seen these matches, but I do also suspect it happens because, well, NJPW puts on the best wrestling. Still, there are a few other companies in there and, hopefully, you find a gem you were unaware of.

NJPW G1 Climax 29 (6/7/19) Review

G1! G1! G1! It’s time, baby. The 29th G1 Climax kicked off not in Japan, but in America, and as usual, I’ll be trying to review the whole damn thing (apart from undercard matches, arsed with that). In a slight change, I am going to include some spoiler-free recommendations in my intros, so you can decide what to watch and what to skip without seeing the results. That seems smart, yes? I hope so anyway.

After an incredible Best Of The Super Juniors, New Japan has thrown together one hell of a card for Dominion. It is stacked from top to bottom with little to no fat on show. The BOSJ Final was a show of the year contender, but it might be outclassed by the same company just a few days later.

After years in Korakuen Hall, New Japan rolled the dice and moved the Best Of The Super Junior final to Ryogoku. It was a massive statement of intent, and they backed it up by giving us the debut of Jon Moxley and Tanahashi’s return from injury underneath the tournament conclusion. Ramblings About’s Top Ten Matches Of April 2019

Hello friends, April was a busy old month for the wrassling, wasn’t it? That little thing called WrestleMania grabbed everyone’s attention for a bit, but it was far from alone. Unfortunately, that means there is a lot of stuff I haven’t watched. I’ve barely scratched the surface of the Champion’s Carnival, and haven’t even got around to watching Kofi Kingston vs Daniel Bryan. Still, there is a load I have seen, and that was packed with exciting matches.

NJPW Wrestling Dontaku (4/5/19) Review

Night two of Wrestling Dontaku finally brought this never-ending tour to an end. It wasn’t a horrible way to finish things off either. New Japan served up EVIL vs Ishii and a rematch of one of the best matches of the year so far, SANADA vs Okada. There was a real chance they were heading out on a high.

They might have made their way around 90% of Japan and put on enough shows to challenge the most devoted of fans, but New Japan have finally made it. Wrestling Dontaku. Sure, it’s taking place over two nights, so we’re not actually done, but at least we’re in the vicinity of it.
