Anyway, I feel like I’ve watched less wrestling than usual this month, mainly because of my newfound love of 3×3 Basketball and Volleyball, but that’s a different round-up. Day three and in the midst of a hot, humid Tokyo summer, some of the TJPW wrestlers’ legs must have been starting to feel heavy. Still, this was the penultimate show, and our Princess Cup match-ups are getting bigger and bigger, so they’ll have to dig deep and think of the prize.

It’s day two of the Princess Cup and day two of four for Tokyo Joshi in Shinkiba. This is a schedule that they don’t usually run, so I’m intrigued to see how the wrestlers cope with working this much. Day one definitely suggested they were taking it a little bit easy (for which I don’t blame them, and I still had a nice time), so will that extend into day two? Or will they start to ramp things up? Out of nowhere, this show became a test for TJPW. We already knew that Yuka would be in the US, presumably being wasted on AEW’s YouTube channel, but then Pom tested positive for the virus. While she’s thankfully doing okay, Yuki Aino and Miyu Yamashita had to go into isolation because they were close contacts. So, Tokyo Joshi had to go into this without two of their biggest stars. Thank god they’d already booked Raku’s title shot, eh?

On the week that Sakisama went viral and a million voices screamed out ‘step on me’, it seems only fitting that she makes her challenge for the Princess of Princess title. While I’m not entirely sure that’s a long-term way to get more people interested in Tokyo Joshi, horniness is a powerful drug, and I can only imagine there was at least a handful of people tuning in for the first time, hoping to catch a glimpse of their new favourite French aristocrat. Would Tokyo Joshi put on a show capable of convincing them to stick around? Time to find out.

Korakuen may have been empty, but Tokyo Joshi were in town, and as I’ve been saying a lot recently, I can’t remember the last time they came to this building and put on anything less than an incredible show. With the State of Emergency ramping up in Japan, Tokyo Joshi is back into empty arenas, but unlike the last time this happened, they are pushing ahead with their Korakuens. That’s a relief, to be honest, for the card that this show was building to is pretty damn spicy.
