What’s that in the stands? Is it… is it fans? Alright, so the last two shows I reviewed both had a live audience, but allow me my joke, please? DDT has returned to Korakuen Hall and opened up the doors to their adoring public. Is it perhaps too early for them to be doing this? Hm, maybe, but that’s not really for me to say. Instead, I’m going to sit back and enjoy some new wrestling from one of my favourite companies.Continue reading
DDT’s second trip to Korakuen of 2020 brought with it a hell of a card. We’ve got our first big title defence of the year, the dishing out of some Anytime Anywhere contracts and a tag title showdown featuring an odd couple. Throw in Marufuji in singles action and the debut of a new faction, and I can’t imagine not having a lovely time. Let’s find out if I’m right, shall we?Continue reading
On the 3rd of January 2020, I equalled the number of wrestling shows that I went to in 2019. That’s primarily because I was saving money to come here, but still, it’s a step up. It was my third trip to Korakuen since I’d arrived in Japan that smashed in the equaliser and it was to see DDT all on their lonesome without the help of those scary boys in Big Japan. I was looking for laughs and good wrestling, did they deliver? Let’s find out.Continue reading
Welcome to the debut of Tale Of the Feud. I’ve enjoyed my dive back into old five-star matches (and will be continuing to do them), but I often feel like I’m getting a tiny nibble of a bigger tale. The truth is that while you can tell one-off stories in the world of wrestling, it’s even better when you tell extended ones. For each Tale Of The Feud, I will pick a classic rivalry and follow it from start to finish. A process that I’ve decided to start with KENTA vs Bryan Danielson
When NOAH goes low-budget, they go very low-budget. I don’t necessarily blame them, there were around 250 people in the crowd at this show and they can’t be expected to add all the bells and whistles. However, it can make it harder to watch as the production values really suck. Despite that, it was an interesting card with a handful of singles matches, so here we go. Let’s dish out some stars.
