Marvelous Oyama (4/9/22) Review

My main event. Credit: Marvelous

After Marvelous treated me to Mio Momono vs Ai Houzan on their last show, they decided to keep the good times rolling by having Ai’s next opponent be Miyako Matsumoto. What does that match look like? I have no idea, but I definitely want to see it, so let’s get on with the show!

Ramblings About’s Matches of the Month for July 2022

Not even Aja Kong can resist Raku’s charms. Credit: TJPW

Somehow, we’ve finished up another month, which means it’s time for my favourite matches from the last 31 days. As usual, there is probably all sorts of cool stuff that I’ve missed, so if you have anything to recommend, pop it in the comments below and feed my disturbing wrestling habit. If not, enjoy the article, and if you have a few quid going spare, consider throwing it in the pot.

Ramblings About’s Matches of the Month for May 2022

Don’t let them fool you, they’re menaces. Credit: ChocoPro

I was doing so well on keeping up with wrestling, and then we hit the summer months, which meant I started having to go outside and see other people, and now I’m behind again. Despite all that, there is plenty of action to get your teeth into from the last month with multiple returns, at least one goodbye and a special tribute show. Enjoy!

Ramblings About’s Matches of the Month for February 2022

A true dream team. Credit: WAVE

After an incredible start to the year, February 2022 suddenly had some pressure on its shoulders. Could it keep it going? In wrestling terms, the answer is yes, in the rest of the world, well, let’s not think about that too much (although if you have any spare cash, do consider donating to humanitarian causes in Ukraine). February was a fun month of wrestling, with a whole lot to talk about, so let’s get to it.

Ramblings About’s Matches of the Month for January 2022

Not a bad pair of champs. Credit: TJPW

I’m still not over 2021 being done and dusted, but we’re somehow already a month into 2022. However, the increasingly fast and unrelenting nature of time aside, January was a hell of a month for wrestling. A whole host of companies came out of the blocks quickly, and I had a lot of stuff to talk about. So, let’s stop jibber-jabbering and get on with it.

Ramblings About’s Wrestler Of The Year: Best Of The Rest

She’s so cool. Credit: TJPW

With matches of the year ticked off the list, it’s onto the all-important Rambling’s About’s wrestler of the year. It’s the most coveted award going, and, sadly, these four didn’t win it. They did come really close, though! Well, actually, that’s not true, my number one was miles ahead of everyone else, but they are all awesome and had brilliant years. If you disagree, well, em, there’s not much I can do about that, but screw you.

Ramblings About’s Matches Of The Year: Best Of The Rest

There is a lot of this. Credit: TJPW

Wow, what a year. The world may not have got any better, as it is still a total shitshow out there, but hey, there was some brilliant wrestling, right? I started off with a long list of thirty matches and have whittled that down to ten, nine of which I have written about below (in chronological order). This is the best of the rest, but honestly, any one of them could have been my match of the year (which I’ll have an article up about tomorrow). 2021 may not have fixed the world, but wrestling continued to make me very happy, and this lot played a big part in that.

Sendai Girls (23/11/21) Review

So much power. Credit: Sendai Girls

Rookie tournament alert! Sendai have got a load of rookies together, and we’ve got the first round on this show, so there was no chance I was going to miss that. Honestly, they could have just left it at that, but they’re giving us a Saki Akai ASUKA team and a tag title showdown, so we’re spoilt, really. Should I get on with it? Yea, I should get on with it.

WAVE X Marvelous Tommy’s 40th Anniversary (1/10/21) Review

Everyone loves Tommy.

Things have not been well in the world of Marvelous recently. With three people suddenly leaving (Mei Hoshizuki, Mikoto Shindo and Hibiki) for reasons that vary depending on the source (I’m not going to get into it), an already small roster was suddenly looking depleted. Throw in an injury to Mio Momono, and things have been a bit chaotic over there. That might explain why their last two shows weren’t available to watch outside of Japan, making it kinda hard for me to talk about them. But thankfully, they are back, and a joint event with WAVE to celebrate Referee Tommy’s 40th Anniversary is the perfect way to return.
