NJPW Super Junior Tag League 2018 (17/10/18) Review

Poor YOH. Credit: NJPW

The first night of the Super Junior Tag League gave me comfort ahead of the many reviews I will be writing in the next month as it proved to be a lot of fun. It’s now time to see whether night two can continue the theme. Just a reminder, I’m not bothering with the undercard, but it’s worth noting that Tanahashi saved Okada from a Jay White attack. New Japan is teasing fans with the idea of their two generational Aces putting aside their differences and joining together to take on The Firing Squad.

It’s time for another New Japan tournament which means it’s time to write a shitload of reviews. Much like my G1 coverage, I’m only going to be doing tournament matches. Partly because there’s a lot of shows where that’s all their taping and partly because life is too short. Time to dig into that Junior action.

King Of Pro Wrestling 2018 Review

Kota is pissed. Credit: NJPW

There are rumblings of discontent in the New Japan stratosphere. Triple Threats, Gaijin champions and a worry that creative is struggling to get the most out of certain stars (*cough* LIJ *cough*). However, if there’s one thing NJPW does well, it is big events, and King Of Pro Wrestling is one of their biggest. Could this be the moment they get everyone back onside? Let’s find out.

Dragon Gate Champion Gate In Osaka 4/3/18 Review

Big main event. Credit: NJPW

The second night of Champion Gate saw the big belt on the line as Ben-K attempted to follow up on his two-minute victory over the champ. Elsewhere, the more eccentric members of the Dragon Gate roster continue to annoy ANTIAS as Susumu and Horiguchi challenge for the Twin Gate title. All sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?

As usual, the full translations for the various promos throughout the show can be found on iHeartDG by clicking this link. Let’s dish out some stars. Continue reading “Dragon Gate Champion Gate In Osaka 4/3/18 Review”

Dragon Gate Champion Gate In Osaka 3/3/18 Review

I’m getting a bit bored with this poster. Credit: Dragon Gate

Dragon Gate moves onto their Champion Gate tour with the first event headlined by a brace of titles matches. I’m feeling more at home in Dragon Gate with every show, and they’re becoming one of my favourite promotions. Hopefully, that will continue to be the case.

Also, rather than put in numerous links to the same article, I’m going to say once that if you want in-depth translations for promos, you can get them at iHeartDG by clicking here. Let’s dish out some stars.

Dragon Gate Kotoka Road To Final 11/2/18

Fancy tour poster. Credit: Dragon Gate

I’ve started looking forward to Dragon Gate shows. There are times when I don’t have a clue what’s going on, but on the whole, the wrestling is excellent while the characters are defined enough that I feel like I’m catching up. It’s an easy promotion to watch, and that’s half the battle won already. Their February 11th show was headlined by an Open The Triangle Gate Title match and ended up having a few interesting wrinkles along the way. Let’s dish out some stars.

There was a bit of buzz heading into this Dragon Gate show. Kzy challenging for the Open The Dream Gate title got everyone excited. As a Dragon Gate noob, I can’t pretend I was feeling the same. However, I love a bit of wrestling, so I got excited anyway. Did it live up to expectations? Let’s dish out some stars.

Dragon Gate Gate of Destiny 2017 Review

Our main event.

Dragon Gate has been calling to me for a while now. Everything I’ve heard suggests it’s a promotion I’ll love and yet I’ve never got around to giving it my time. Until now. However, this does mean I’m going in blind. Storylines and most of the wrestlers are a mystery. Hopefully as time goes on, I will learn these things, but for now, I can only review the action bell to bell. Let’s dish out some stars.
