Grand Princess is getting awfully close, and this is TJPW’s final serious stop before they get there (they ran a Wrestle Universe Members show on Sunday, but those are inherently silly). We’ve got the full card, so all that’s left is to drum up that little bit of extra excitement. To be honest, I probably don’t need it, but I’m happy to get it anyway.

Wrestle Princess II was a show of the year contender, as Tokyo Joshi delivered a feast of wonderful wrestling. However, that’s done now, and it’s time to find out what’s next. Will Miyu kick more of the internet’s favourites in the head? I certainly hope so.

TJPW Princess Cup (14/8/21) Review

TJPW was back in Korakuen Hall, and if you’ve been paying attention recently, you’ll know that means we’re almost guaranteed a good show. The twist this time is that they were going back to back, finishing off the Princess Cup with a double-header. It meant there were no big title matches, and sadly Yuki Arai had to miss out after coming into contact with someone with COVID, but TJPW had called on some guests to flesh out the midcard, so their good streak looked safe on paper. Would that also be the reality? Time to find out.

Ramblings About’s Match Of The Year: Best Of The Rest Part 1

According to some, 2020 has been a lousy year for wrestling, an opinion fuelled by New Japan not doing what people want them to do and an aversion to the dreaded clap crowds. Unfortunately, no-one told my match of the year list, which was quite frankly unwieldy. So yes, this is part one of the best of the rest because when I started writing it very quickly got out of hand. Excessive? Perhaps, but despite its many faults, wrestling is still the best, so a bit of excess isn’t too bad.
