Night two of Wrestling Dontaku finally brought this never-ending tour to an end. It wasn’t a horrible way to finish things off either. New Japan served up EVIL vs Ishii and a rematch of one of the best matches of the year so far, SANADA vs Okada. There was a real chance they were heading out on a high.

They might have made their way around 90% of Japan and put on enough shows to challenge the most devoted of fans, but New Japan have finally made it. Wrestling Dontaku. Sure, it’s taking place over two nights, so we’re not actually done, but at least we’re in the vicinity of it.

The Dontaku tour continues to wander on, dishing out good matches every now and then but surrounding them with a shitload of multiman tags. While this card has more points of interest than most, I’m not sure they’re necessarily points that entice. It had potential, but not always of the good variety. Sound like fun?

It’s time for the big one! New Japan is in the Garden. And, well, I guess Ring Of Honor is there too. The G1 Supercard should be the show of the weekend, and if ROH weren’t there, I’d be putting money on that being the case. Sadly, I don’t trust those cunts, so we’ll have to wait and see. Still, Ibushi vs Naito could fart into a kazoo for thirty minutes, and I’d stand up and clap, so I’m going to have a good time.

The WrestleCon Supershow is a WrestleMania tradition at this point and, despite having both PAC and a load of Dragon Gate talent pull out this year, you can almost guarantee it will deliver.

The New Japan Cup slips into the quarter-finals, and the first half of the bracket is an all CHAOS affair. First up is Ishii who has been tasked with getting something out of YOSHI-HASHI after The Loose Explosion fluked his way past Nakanishi and Owens. Thankfully, the main event is to be a more even affair as Okada tries to shoot down Ospreay’s rising star. How fun.

After Taichi’s heroics against Ishii, the New Japan Cup is a few feet higher than it was previously. With even the dregs delivering, I expect magic out of the likes of Kazuchika Okada and Will Ospreay. Can they leap the bar that Taichi has set?

Day two of the New Japan Cup is headlined by a match I won’t watch. I wanted to put that out at the front just so as not to waste the time of anyone that would be bothered by that. There are other reviews out there that will be happy to have you read them. Meanwhile, there is still plenty for me to get my teeth into as we have Mikey Nicholls’ return to Japan and Ospreay taking on a super-heavyweight in Bad Luck Fale.

New Japan’s Anniversary show is an underrated date on their calendar. The last two years have seen Kazuchika Okada take on Tiger Mask W (aka Kota Ibushi) and Will Ospreay while this year sees Will get his second main event in a row against Jay White. Gedo seems to view it as an opportunity to bend the rules a bit, and that’s always going to be fun.

Honestly, I had to make an effort to fill this list which is why it’s a bit late (I was ill over the weekend and used it as an opportunity to catch up on hyped stuff).
