So Sonisphere is back after their forced leave of absence in the last two years. It’s forty years since rock and roll first came to Knebworth and they are obviously pulling out all the stops to make sure this time they stick around. A very average Download line up might help them a little bit too.
So yes there is hundreds of people that are going to sit at home behind their computers and whine about how Metallica and Iron Maiden headline every festival and it’s so boring blah blah blah. Bull shit. They are fucking Maiden and Metallica on the same bill on the same weekend. How can that not excite you? It got me so excited that I’ve actually already bought a ticket. Well put a deposit down at least. I have no one to go with though so if anyone can fit me into their camp site let me know!
Throw into all of this that Metallica are playing a set list made up of requests from fans and this means that we won’t just be getting an average Metallica show. We will be getting something new and fresh full of obscure songs, covers and god knows what else. Here’s a deal people. Anyone that goes on that vote and votes for things like “Enter Sandman” and “Seek and Destroy” is getting detention. They are going to play those songs whatever happens so lets have a bit of imagination folks. Meanwhile Maiden are once again playing their Maiden England set list, but hopefully this time, unlike at Download, we might actually get some decent sound.
Basically this line up has started perfectly. They have the two biggest metal bands on the planet and they are going to slay. Even if you have seen both of them several times how can you fail to enjoy it? Here’s the simple truth of the matter, there aren’t that many exciting and different headline bands. You want exciting and different look further down the card and I’m betting you’ll find it there. See you down the front.
