WWE 2K16

Footage has just been released of WWE 2K16, showing that…  well it’s pretty much the same as all the other ones.  WWE games have been running off the same tired engine for years now and even with a change in developer, it doesn’t look likely to stop anytime soon.  Sadly, that engine just doesn’t work and creates an experience that has more in common with a fighting game than a wrestling game.

Lifeline

The rise of mobile gaming has led to a lot of crap.  Free to play games, which in reality require you to pay several hundred pounds to actually achieve anything, and thousands of clones of more successful games.  However, it’s also led to some very interesting developments in text adventure games and other experiences of that ilk.  One example of that is Lifeline, a text adventure that sees you communicating with an astronaut who has been stranded on a moon.

Injustice: Gods Among Us

Pokemon X

If you take a look at the section of this website named Top 10s, you will notice that on the list of my favourite games of all time, Pokemon Red sits in slot number 2.  Pokemon was pretty much year zero for me when it came to playing games.  Sure, I had played some before that.  But Pokemon was the first game that I poured hour after hour into.  Since then I have played pretty much every game in the franchise and as long as I have a suitable break between each installment, have never grown bored with them.

Far Cry 4

Charging into an enemy base astride an elephant, firing your gun left, right and centre before leaping off, stabbing someone in the neck and claiming it for the Golden Path, the freedom/terrorist movement (depending on where you stand) that you are a part of.  There is no denying that moments like this in Far Cry 4 make you feel awesome and that’s not even a campaign mission or the only way you could go about it.  Want to sit on the hill opposite and snipe, never even being spotted by those in the base.  You can do it.  Want to float in on a hang glider raining grenades from above.  Yup, they’ve got it.  Far Cry 4’s greatest strength comes in moments like this.
