NJPW Honor Rising (23/2/19) Review

With the first of 2019’s Honor Rising shows succeeding in being a load of fun, night two was given something to live up to. It had a problem, though. The second half of this card looks like something New Japan has dreamt up to personally spite me. Miracles are going to have to occur for me to enjoy this.

Honor Rising is a weird tour. Much like Fantastica Mania, people treat it like a bit of a joke. Yet, much like Fantastica Mania, I nearly always enjoy it. You get some fun combinations as a couple of matches always deliver. Christ, last year Hirooki Goto had a good showing with Beer City Bruiser, where else are you going to see that? I think people need to stop overthinking it, and just enjoy it.

WrestleMania Weekend: ROH Supercard Of Honor XII Review

He’s a good boy. Credit: ROH

Supercard of Honor XII was a big night for Ring Of Honor as they broke their attendance record. It’s the latest example of the company being able to take advantage of the outstanding popularity of The Bullet Club as New Japan made the surprising decision to allow them to book Cody vs Omega. When you throw in Scurll challenging for the ROH Title and The Bucks for the Trios belts, it’s a Club focused show. Not that all the credit belongs to the BC members. Welcome back. Credit: NJPW

Full disclosure, this is the second time I’ve written a review of night two of Honor Rising. The first one vanished from my drafts’ folder, a situation I am not best pleased about. Therefore, with the undercard being a bit unexciting don’t hold it against me if I rush through some of it. We all know why we’re here don’t we? Let’s dish out some stars.

No, you’re crying. Credit: NJPW

There seemed to be little to no hype for Honor Rising coming into the weekend. ROH and NJPW team up for so many tours now that it doesn’t feel special. Yet, I always enjoy them, particularly when they take place in Japan. It’s a chance for something a bit different, while unlike Fantastica Mania, you can use it to further storylines. Specifically storylines about a pair of lovers. Let’s dish out some stars.

NJPW New Year Dash 2018 Review

He looks quite pleased with himself. Credit: NJPW

It’s the night after Wrestle Kingdom and all through Korakeun Hall, new stories are stirring and I’ve got nothing more.

That will be my last Christmas themed intro I promise.

If you’re getting into New Japan for the first time, look at New Year Dash as being their Raw after WrestleMania. It’s when NJPW hit the reset button and set up the storylines that are going to take them into the New Year. Which makes it pretty damn exciting. Let’s dish out some stars.
