This is my weekly dive into the music I’ve been listening to and, as I’m hoping will be the norm, it’s an eclectic mix of the old and the new, the loud and the quiet, the grungey and the clean. The only connecting factor? That I find it interesting (although not necessarily good). Right, let’s see what I’ve been up to.

Today’s Music That Is Good has an underlying theme. For a long time, I would get anxious when talking about music that I didn’t think I understood. It didn’t matter whether I enjoyed it or not, I wouldn’t want to write about or recommend it because I was worried about being called out as a fraud or for jumping on the bandwagon. I’ve decided, however, that that’s daft. Music is music, and whether you analyse the intricate technical aspects of it or merely like the tune, your opinion can be valid. So, let’s talk about some stuff I don’t understand.
Weatherstate – Dumbstruck
Weatherstate is what happens when you merge pop-punk fuelled lyrics with garage rock and then chuck in a bit of Weezer.  I’m sure I could come up with a fancy name for that but I think I’ll just stick to describing their latest EP, Dumbstruck, as punk rock.  I’ll also throw in that is a combination that you need in your ears.
Architects – Lost Forever//Lost Together
Architects have had an unusual career path.  At one point they seemed like they could do no wrong and were heading for the big time.  Then they released The Here and Now, an album which despite some initially positive reviews, slowly saw fans turn against it and then even the band themselves turn their back on material they discovered they had little passion for.  Since then the release of Daybreaker has seen them begin the path to redemption and Lost Forever//Lost Together may be the album that seals that return.
