So Survivor Series is just around the corner and it may be one of the most one match Pay Per Views WWE has put on for a long time. Nearly all of WWE’s build has been focused on Team Cena vs Team Authority, with only Bray Wyatt and Dean Ambrose coming close to getting a similar level of attention (and they are a long way off in second). However, there is actually a whole under card happening as well and some of it could be alright, so here is what I expect to happen.
Fandango vs TBA
Apparently we are going to be seeing an all new and improved Fandango. I hope that involves a more serious character, as the former Johnny Curtis deserves a chance to shine. He could be facing off against anyone. They could use it as a chance to give an NXT guy an opportunity to shine or they could throw someone like R Truth out there. With it being on the pre-show, I wouldn’t expect too big a name however and if Fandango doesn’t win, he should be very worried about his career.
Prediction: Fandango victory
Dust Bros vs The Usos vs Miz and Damien Mizdow vs Los Matadores
I imagine this match will kick off the PPV proper and it has the potential to be a fun encounter. It might be a bit of a mess, but there is enough talent in the ring to make it entertaining. The actual match feels like something that has just been thrown together from the remnants of WWE’s tag team division. The Usos and Dust Bros are the only teams that feel like the real deal and they have wrestled each other nearly as many times as Cena and Orton. The tag division needs a new dynamic and I can’t see where it will be coming from anytime soon. Taking that into account I don’t see the point of taking the title off the Dust Bros, so I’m going for them to retain. In saying that, don’t be surprised if Miz and Mizdow get the victory as it will allow WWE to milk the Mizdow phenomenon until it’s not funny anymore.
Prediction: Dust Bros victory
AJ Lee vs Nikki Bella
Blah, I find it hard to care about this match. Nikki’s actually improving in the ring, so it might be an alright contest, but all the story line crap needs to stop. With rumours that AJ might be finishing up with WWE, it would make sense for Nikki to win the belt. It would also make sense since WWE spends more time on the Bellas than any other WWE Diva. Brie will be involved somehow and it will presumably all be done to set up the twins facing each other for the title. How that happens is anyone’s guess.
Prediction: Nikki Bella victory
Natalya, Alicia Fox, Emma and Naomi vs Paige, Cameron, Summer Rae and Layla
This has been a late addition to the card and will be a traditional Survivor Series match. I love that format, but Christ I don’t care about this match. I don’t know who will win and I don’t give a shit who does. I basically don’t do a lot of things. I imagine this will work as the buffer between Ambrose vs Wyatt and the main event and I imagine the crowd will care about as much as me.
Prediction: Who cares?
Dean Ambrose vs Bray Wyatt
I love both of these guys, but this match has been slightly forgotten in among the hype for the main event. Wyatt needs something new. The man himself is fantastic, but his actual story has been spinning its wheels. They’ve never truly explained what motivates him and if they want this character to truly stick, they need to do so soon. In saying that, the guy can go in the ring and I have a feeling these two styles will mesh perfectly. They both have a brawling element to their game and while it won’t be pretty, I’m pretty damn sure it will be fun. It’s hard to pick a winner at this stage, but I can’t see the feud ending anytime soon so it would make more sense for Wyatt to go over, probably due to some weird paranormal stuff.
Prediction: Bray Wyatt victory
John Cena, Erik Rowan, Big Show, Dolph Ziggler and Ryback vs Luke Harper, Seth Rollins, Kane, Mark Henry and Rusev
If you don’t want Smackdown spoilers, stop reading now. I was unsure who I expected to win this match, then Triple H added the stipulation than all of Team Cena would be fired if they lost. In my mind, that seals the deal and it looks like The Authority will be taking their final bow. Personally, I think that’s a good thing, they’ve been the centre of every story line for a little too long and it’s time to go back to wrestlers wrestling about wrestling things. The match has the potential to be good, there is a lot of talent in that ring and if it’s paced right it will be fun to watch. I hope it doesn’t see anyone getting too badly squashed and the likes of Rusev, Rollins, Ziggler and Harper all need to be protected from being steamrolled by some of the more established acts. I’m also going to predict plenty of interference, with the most obvious ones stemming from Cesaro and Orton.
Prediction: Team Cena win
