TJPW Temple of the Sun (15/9/19) Review

After show fun. Credit: TJPW

I don’t think my first Tokyo Joshi review was a disaster, so we’re back with number two! Some people were kind and pointed me in the direction of a beginner’s guide/passed on some information, so I want to say thanks to them. That’s much better than being shouted at for being an idiot. By the way, I enjoyed that first show so much that I’m now going to the January 4th Korakuen now, so that’s something.

Stardom 5STAR Grand Prix (Afternoon 14/9/19)

Another big shout out to the people behind the scenes at Stardom who got these matches up super quick. They ran two shows on the 14th, so I can only assume it was a busy day, and after the kerfuffle at the start of the tournament, they’ve been fantastic at getting things back on track. NJPW Destruction in Beppu (15/9/19) Review

Poor Tana. Credit: NJPW

New Japan took the scenic route to their first Destruction show, but they’ve finally rocked up in Beppu with a solid card. There are a lot of tags on here, but the Young Lion Cup and a brace of title matches make sure that proceedings shouldn’t be too dragged down by the splitting of this tour into multiple dates. Any show with Tanahashi vs Sabre is alright by me.

NJPW Young Lion Cup (10/9/19) Review

Dishing up the Young Lion Special. Credit: NJPW

These Young Lion Cup matches feel like a throwback as NJPW didn’t show them live but has stuck the VOD up without commentary and with a stripped-back production. They used to do this for the G1 and BOSJ, but with the popularity of the brand increasing, they’ve been able to move away from that. Maybe if they get even bigger, the Young Lion Cup can graduate to every match receiving the works.
