Out of nowhere, this show became a test for TJPW. We already knew that Yuka would be in the US, presumably being wasted on AEW’s YouTube channel, but then Pom tested positive for the virus. While she’s thankfully doing okay, Yuki Aino and Miyu Yamashita had to go into isolation because they were close contacts. So, Tokyo Joshi had to go into this without two of their biggest stars. Thank god they’d already booked Raku’s title shot, eh?

Marvelous (4/7/21)

It’s not great for my bank balance, but Marvelous and Sendai are ramping up the shows, and I’m in deep enough that they all feel essential, no matter the size. We’re not quite onto the big stuff yet, Takumi’s return will kick that off on the Marvelous side, but this is still a fun-looking show that hopefully won’t create as much Twitter discourse as the last one.

Marvelous (28/6/21) Review

With GAEAISM in the books, it’s arguable that the real challenge for Marvelous starts now. They’ve built up a lot of momentum over the last six months or so, and having it all peter out in the aftermath of what was an incredible show would be a real shame. They need to keep going, and this is their first chance to convince people to stay invested in one of the best companies going.

TJPW Stand Proud (26/6/21) Review

On the week that Sakisama went viral and a million voices screamed out ‘step on me’, it seems only fitting that she makes her challenge for the Princess of Princess title. While I’m not entirely sure that’s a long-term way to get more people interested in Tokyo Joshi, horniness is a powerful drug, and I can only imagine there was at least a handful of people tuning in for the first time, hoping to catch a glimpse of their new favourite French aristocrat. Would Tokyo Joshi put on a show capable of convincing them to stick around? Time to find out.

TJPW Additional Attack (17/6/21) Review

Tokyo Joshi and Korakuen have been a hell of a pairing recently, and yet, despite their recent fantastic form in this venue, it felt like this show lacked a bit of hype. Its proximity to CyberFest, and the huge Miyu vs Yuka match, had perhaps taken some shine away from this one, leaving it in a tough position. The card still looks good, but without a big title challenge, could we be about to see the first merely alright Tokyo Joshi Korakuen in a long time? Let’s find out.

DDT King of DDT 1st Round (10/6/21) Review

With CyberFest behind them (which I didn’t review but is well worth the afternoon it will take to watch), it’s time for the King Of DDT. I love the simplicity of a knockout tournament, especially one with lots of good wrestlers in it (although the cowards didn’t put Saki in) and with a whopping eights singles matches on this show, there is plenty to get our teeth into.
