With a Korakuen incoming, Ice Ribbon’s latest trip to SKIP City was building to a few biggies and had the added joy of a tag title match involving the coolest man in the world. Who doesn’t want to watch that?

This was Stardom’s second show from Fukuoka last weekend and they still had one to go before they were done. I’m tired from reviewing them all, so I can’t imagine what the wrestlers were thinking. There is nothing like a tournament to test your cardio, but when that tournament has to cancel shows? Well, it seems a bit nightmarish to me.

ChocoPro might not have been around long, but it can already lay claim to a success story or two. Both Yunamon and Mitsuru have benefited from long arcs that have seen them grapple with who they are as a wrestler (while season three has hinted at a similar role for Mei). Meanwhile, Emi ‘Oni’ Sakura stirs the pot, looking on as the likes of Lulu Pencil grow in confidence, finding themselves in the ring. Nearly everyone involved has had something for fans to grasp hold of, and yet, ChocoPro’s greatest success story is none of that. Instead, it’s been the growth of one Tokiko Kirihara, known to fans as Otoki.

By this point in a tournament, I’ve completely exhausted ways to introduce the shows. It’s another day in the 5STAR, whoop whoop.

It’s been a sad week in the world of Tokyo Joshi as both Natsupoi and Mina have announced they will be leaving the company. As of writing, we don’t know where they’re headed next, but they’ll certainly be missed in TJPW. Still, the show must go on, and at the very least, let’s hope they get a good farewell.

Stardom’s first trip to Sendai in a fair while saw them still on catch-up duty for the 5STAR. I don’t have much more to say than that… em, enjoy?

I guess it’s time to throw a token man into my Wrestler Mixtape series. If you’re going to watch one of those menfolk do a wrestle, Jushin Thunder Liger is probably not a bad choice. The Thunder God is one of my favourites and an absolute legend. However, rather than seek out some of the matches that earned him that status, I’ve decided to focus on times where he’s taken a wee trip over to America. Why? Honestly, they’re all on the first page when you put his name into YouTube… sorry, that’s not a very good reason, is it?

After an enforced break the 5STAR returned over the weekend with a packed show. COVID tries to knock wrestling down, but it keeps getting up again.

Another week, another trip to Korakuen for DDT, who like most wrestling companies are leaping at every chance to run that iconic building in the COVID era. At first glance, this card might look like it is lacking in big matches, but those that are there all have the potential to be great, so I’m putting it down as a dark horse to be a sneaky good show.

Stardom’s first trip to Korakuen Hall coincided with Nanae Takahashi’s 15th anniversary, leading to a packed building and a chance for the company to make a statement. They sought to do so by putting together their biggest card yet and one which has spawned at least one iconic match (although it’s probably not the one anyone would have expected). On top of that, they created two titles and picked up another, which has to go down as being a pretty good day in the office.
Quick note, you might notice that this show isn’t on Stardom World. On the whole, I’ll be sticking to things they have uploaded, but this felt like such a biggie that I had to search it out. Fingers crossed Rossy will forgive me.
