The first of GCW’s shows in Japan was a whole load of fun, so night two had something to live up to. With the way this company has been going recently, you’d have been daft to bet against them keeping the good form up.Continue reading “GCW The New Face Of War (23/8/19) Review”
GCW Worst Behavior (22/8/19) Review
GCW’s rise over the last few years has been as fun as it has been astonishing. Not long ago they were a deathmatch promotion, unknown to wrestling fans outside of that niche. Then, they figured out how to capture the minds and attention of a much larger crowd, blending that deathmatch style with comedy, great wrestling and a little bit of magic. It’s been so successful that they’ve been able to take this show on the road, heading to Tokyo’s Shin-Kiba 1st RING for two nights that blended their roster with a few notable Japanese faces.Continue reading “GCW Worst Behavior (22/8/19) Review”
WrestleMania Weekend: Joey Janela’s Spring Break 3 Part 2 (6/4/19) Review
It’s time for Spring Break 3 Part 2 and, believe it or not, I am sober! Whether that remains the case by the end of the show, remains to be seen. Let’s do this shit.Continue reading “WrestleMania Weekend: Joey Janela’s Spring Break 3 Part 2 (6/4/19) Review”
WrestleMania Weekend: Orange Cassidy Is Doing Something, Or Whatever, Who Knows??? (6/4/19) Review
As it is WrestleMania Weekend and I’m drunk, I’m bashing these reviews out and not really editing them (yes, I usually edit). If an incoherent ramble doesn’t interest you, don’t bother reading them.
I have a beer and Orange Cassidy Is Doing Something, Or Whatever, Who Knows??? Do I need to say anything else?Continue reading “WrestleMania Weekend: Orange Cassidy Is Doing Something, Or Whatever, Who Knows??? (6/4/19) Review”
WrestleMania Weekend: Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport (4/4/19) Review
It’s WrestleMania weekend! A most joyous time of the year and one during which I get drunk and watch lots of wrestling. There are going to be two types of shows happening over the next few days.
- Those I watch seriously and make an effort to write a decent review of. For example NJPW/ROH and Stardom.
- Those I get drunk in front of and produce a rambling page of gibberish written while I watch the show. For example Spring Break and WrestleMania.
Up first is Bloodsport which slots nicely into the second category, so grab a beer and enjoy some worked shoot wrestling… is that right? Who cares! Let’s get on with it.Continue reading “WrestleMania Weekend: Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport (4/4/19) Review”
WrestleMania Weekend: Matt Riddle’s Bloodsport Review
I was on the fence about ordering Matt Riddle’s Bloodsport. While wXw’s Ambition was enjoyable, I didn’t love it, and Bloodsport was a similar shoot style show. Then Suzuki stepped in after Low Ki Googled Riddle (joke stolen from Voices of Wrestling) and I slapped my money down. I have no idea what to expect from a card that has Nick Gage vs Timothy Thatcher on it. God, I love this time of year.
One final note before we start, I plan to be drinking while I watch a lot of these shows and writing the reviews as I go. If they get even more incoherent than usual, that’s the reason. Let’s dish out some stars.
