Stardom Throwback: Stardom X Stardom – Nanae Takahashi’s 15th Anniversary (24/7/11) Review

Stardom’s first trip to Korakuen Hall coincided with Nanae Takahashi’s 15th anniversary, leading to a packed building and a chance for the company to make a statement. They sought to do so by putting together their biggest card yet and one which has spawned at least one iconic match (although it’s probably not the one anyone would have expected). On top of that, they created two titles and picked up another, which has to go down as being a pretty good day in the office.

Quick note, you might notice that this show isn’t on Stardom World. On the whole, I’ll be sticking to things they have uploaded, but this felt like such a biggie that I had to search it out. Fingers crossed Rossy will forgive me.

The world is fucking weird at the moment and, as of today, I don’t have a job, so if you like my rambles, get ready to see a lot more of them. With that weirdness, there are suddenly a lot of people with a hella lot of time on their hands. Now, I don’t normally do listicles on this website because, well, why would I? I spent some time in the trenches of making money by writing for WhatCulture, and it ain’t much fun. However, what better way to spend all that free time than by getting into everyone’s favourite pseudo-sport, wrassling! Usually, when people try to get you into wrestling, they’ll go straight to WWE. There is a decent chance they’ll show you Mick Foley being thrown off a cage because of the wrestling fan’s innate need to prove it’s not fake. However, that’s dumb, and WWE sucks. So, I’ve decided to put together a list of matches, all of which you can watch for free, that might tempt you to fall in love with this world that gives me so much joy.

AEW Revolution (29/2/20) Review

Cards on the table, I honestly can’t remember the last time I watched Dynamite. Week three? The last AEW show I saw was probably the PPV, but I have kept an eye on what they’ve been up to, and people seem to be enjoying it. While that doesn’t mean Western TV wrestling has stopped being the Devil, I figured I’d tune in for Revolution and give them the chance to convince me otherwise.

AAA TripleMania XXVII (3/8/19) Review

As I make clear at the start of my TripleMania review every year, I know fuck all about lucha libre. Beyond the obvious stars, Fantastica Mania and this show, I only catch hyped matches, and the culture around it is as alien to me as it is fascinating. I adore how Mexico views wrestling, but I would be lying if I didn’t say that I also find some of their, em, eccentricities rather amusing. If history is any indicator, this show could veer wildly from genius to hilarious, and I am down for that.

If you want someone who does understand lucha, click here.
