After a decent start to proceedings, the Mae Young Classic has cut out some of the deadwood as we move into round two. Most of the wrestlers left can work and there’s a handful who are truly special so the match quality should only improve from here. Once again, I won’t be bothering with talking about JR and Lita, they still suck. Let’s hand out some stars.
There’s not much to say here that I didn’t say in the intro to the first review as we’re still in the first batch of matches. It’s worth noting, however, that I’m not going to bother mentioning JR and Lita. They are awful, but me continuing to moan about it won’t help. Right, let’s start dishing out those stars.

Over a month after it was taped, the Mae Young Classic finally came to the WWE Network yesterday and brought with it a swell of expectation. The Cruiserweight Classic was a highlight of last year and the pressure is on this tournament to compete. It’s also an important part of WWE’s attempts to alter history by convincing us that they’ve always liked women and that it wasn’t their fault there needed to be a ‘women’s revolution’ in the first place. Anyway, let’s not get too bitchy and instead have a look at how things went down during the first two episodes of this tournament.

WWE has released this news into the wild already, but, if you want absolutely no spoilers from the most recent NXT tapings, stop reading now. You stopped? Good. After over 500 days and an undefeated streak that must be around the 200 match mark, The Empress of Tomorrow, Asuka, has relinquished her NXT title. The news came at a time when she is believed to have suffered a collarbone injury, but WWE is treating it as being the set-up for her move to the main roster. Where, if they have any sense, she will do it all again.
My God, that was long. I watched three wrestling shows over the weekend (TakeOver and ROH’s show in Edinburgh being the other two), and I could have watched both of those again in the time that it took me to watch all of Summerslam and its pre-show. But, I survived and have come out the other end a wiser and more cynical man. Let’s hand out some stars.
NXT’s TakeOvers are always special. It doesn’t matter what the build is like or where it’s taking place, they deliver a combination of incredible in-ring action and exciting storyline moments. Whether it’s a big debut or titles changing hands, you know that something is going to go down. So, with all that in mind, let’s start throwing out some stars for NXT TakeOver Brooklyn 2017.
Great Balls of Fire, a show name so ridiculous that we’re still waiting for the punchline. Yet, despite that (and posters that look suspiciously like a penis) this may be the best build to a WWE show since the brand split. Samoa Joe has suddenly found his feet on the main roster, and there are hints of interesting programs throughout the entire card. It’s just possible, this could be a good show. Money In The Bank has become one of WWE’s better PPVs. In the last few years, it’s tended to be notable and not just because of the briefcase that’s on the line. However, with the brand split era meaning these Network Specials are becoming less and less unique, it’s tough to build up enthusiasm for events you don’t care about, and WWE’s booking sometimes suggests that they agree. Don’t let that put you off too much, though, as here are ten observations that we made about Money In the Bank.

Yup, Sunday night was the one day of the year where WWE gets extreme, apart from all those other days that they do it. For some daft reason, I sat down and watched all of it despite having all the enthusiasm of Dean Ambrose (more on that below). So here are ten things I observed during WWE Extreme Rules.
I almost can’t be arsed writing this. WWE obviously couldn’t be arsed putting much effort into Backlash so why should I bother? This PPV (are they still PPVs? What do we call them now?) was a massive waste of time, and while the crowning of Jinder Mahal will help people to forget that, it’s still true. However, I’m nothing if not a pro with a lot of time on their hands so here is eight things I observed at Backlash.
