Hell in a Cell Preview

WWE_Hell_In_A_Cell_2014_Poster_With_Dean_Ambrose

Another month, another PPV and WWE have somehow managed to put together one of their most lackluster bills yet, as the television product stagnates.  Despite this, it is another PPV that might just deliver in the ring and I am still happy to provide you all with my (semi) educated opinion on what will go down.

The Dust Brothers (C) vs The Usos

These two teams always put on good matches, but this match has been done before and is indicative of the WWE’s current lazy booking.  Rather than building a real story around the tag division, they seem happy to let it flounder at point A, without ever moving onto point B.  I can only imagine The Dust Brothers will pick up the victory on Sunday, as there seems no point in making the switch this quickly.   However, despite all this negativity I can imagine these teams will put on another great match, because that is what they do.

The Dust Brothers retain the titles.

AJ Lee (C) vs Paige

I feel like I am repeating myself from last month, but god, the WWE have fucked up this program.  The Diva’s division is a mess at the moment and I don’t know who is supposed to be heel and who is supposed to be face.  These two still have the potential to put on great matches, but I still dream of them just having a solid program based around wrestling and not who can be the most crazy.  I suspect AJ retains, but then with the way these two have swapped the belt, Paige is equally as likely.

AJ Lee retains the title

Nikki Bella vs Brie Bella

This program has run it’s course and I am not looking forward to a month of personal assistant sketches.  God knows who wins, probably Nikki, it would make the most sense I guess.  However, I really struggle to care.  Brie was good as an accessory to Bryan’s story, his injury put her front and centre and she has really struggled to grab the ball and run with it.

Nikki wins, no one cares.

Big Show vs Rusev

This, like most of these twos matches, won’t be pretty.  However, if they are sensible enough to give them 5 minutes and just let them beat each other up, then it will probably be entertaining enough.  Rusev is probably the hottest heel WWE have right now, so I can only imagine him going over.  Big Show has long played the guy people beat just before they make the step up and I don’t see that changing here.

Rusev crushes

Dolph Ziggler (C) vs Cesaro

I don’t think it’s an out there suggestion to say that this match will steal the show.  Cesaro and Ziggler are both constantly used badly, but they are two of the best in ring workers WWE has.  I’m fed up moaning about Ziggler being used badly, but Cesaro’s offence and Dolph’s selling are a near perfect combination and I can’t see it being anything but a fantastic match.  I don’t know who I want to win to be honest, but I’d be happy with either taking the gold, as long as it all leads to something bigger for both in the future.  It would seem strange to take the belt off Ziggler at this time, but WWE have hardly had an issue degrading their own titles at this time.

Ziggler retains, they steal the show, the crowd sighs at the waste.

Sheamus (C) vs The Miz

Secondary title holders are irrelevant in WWE right now and Sheamus is no exception.  What might be even more amazing, is I care even less about Miz.  He’s currently being outclassed by Damien Sandow, in one of the worst gimmicks ever.  While I am delighted for Sandow, Miz has to question what that means for him.  On the other hand, Miz feels like a guy more suited to the US titles current level and Sheamus could probably be used in the very stale main event scene at the moment, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him win.  However, that is mainly a hunch and it is just as likely Sheamus kicks Miz in the face and keeps the belt.  Whatever happens it will probably be an alright match, however, I bet Damien Mizdow entertains on the sidelines.

Miz wins the US Title, no one cares because they’re watching Damien Mizdow

Dean Ambrose vs Seth Rollins (HIAC)

If anyone will compete with Cesaro and Ziggler, it will be these guys.  Ambrose and Rollins managed to have a good Lumberjack match, I can’t wait to see what they can do in the cell.  Considering Ambrose’s history in the indies, I will be intrigued to see how far they let him go in this, either way, I suspect him and Rollins to put on a great show.  They have a chemistry that it’s hard to argue with and when they get in the ring together things just seem to click.  I reckon Ambrose takes the win here, it feels like the feud needs that at the moment and if he doesn’t, he will be flirting dangerously with becoming a guy who is all talk and no action.  However, I won’t be surprised to see people getting involved, despite the Cell and Rollins picking up the dodgy win, I really hope WWE stay away from that though.

Dean Ambrose wins and they compete with Cesaro and Ziggler

John Cena vs Randy Orton (HIAC)

I feel a sense of de-ja-vu every time these two step into the ring.  Cena and Orton is the most played out feud, possibly in wrestling history and I just can’t get excited about this match.  It’s a shame, because they actually tend to have good matches, but we’ve now seen them all a hundred times.  With the winner getting a shot at Lesnar, I can only see Cena picking up the victory to once again go after The Beast Incarnate.  I can’t pretend I particularly want to see that again either, but WWE can’t have their golden boy anywhere but the top for too long.  All signs point to an Orton Rollins feud, so it will be interesting to see if there is any sign of a face Randy here, or whether WWE will hold off on that a little bit longer.

John Cena wins, even less people care.
