Wrestlemania 30 – Predictions

Obviously an old one

So it is Wrestlemania Sunday and I don’t even know if I’m going to be able to watch it tonight, I have to get up early tomorrow and being in the UK staying up to watch it means being up till around 4 am.  Whatever I end up doing it doesn’t prevent me having an opinion on the show, so I present to you now my predictions for just what is going to happen at the Super Bowl of wrestling.

Pre-show Four Way for the Tag Team Titles – The Usos vs Los Matadores vs The Real Americans vs Rybaxel

A few months ago the WWE tag team division looked on the up, then for some reason Goldust and Cody Rhodes dropped the belts and the cornerstone of the division is gone.  We are left with The Uso’s a solid respectable team, Rybaxel who are about as flat as you can get, Los Matadores a bad comedy team and the Real Americans who seem to be on course for a break up.  Because of all this I can only see The Uso’s winning tonight and it seems to make the most sense as well, it does admittedly have the potential to be an alright match but I wouldn’t expect it to the steal the show.

Divas chaos match

How can this be anything other than chaos?  I’d love to say I had an opinion about who will win but I really don’t.  It’s time to move the belt off AJ and I’d love it if one of the NXT girls who can actually wrestle were given a shot, but since Emma is the only one who has made their debut on the main roster and she’s playing Santino’s girlfriend I can’t see that happening.  Summer Rae would be a good choice, as by the sounds of things she is flourishing as a heel on Total Divas.

Andre the Giant Battle Royal

Is this the laziest booking in Wrestlemania history?  Let’s just throw everyone on the card in a Battle Royal.  Does anyone care?  Sheamus or Big Show seem likely choices.  Will they throw the rookie Rusev in and let him take it home?  God knows.  I’d like them to actually use it to push someone so I’m going to go out on a limb and call a Kofi Kingston heel turn and victory that leads to him finally making his way to the top of the card (I don’t actually believe that one, is he even in it?).

Someone wins and poses with Hogan

The Shield vs Kane and the New Age Outlaws

This is another match that feels a bit lacklustre.  The Shield are one of the best things in the company yet they couldn’t come up with a better story than this?  I fully expect it to actually be quite a good match, The Shield should be able to carry the Middle Age Outlaws and Kane can still go when he needs to.  Anything but a Shield victory would be a waste of time.

The Shield wins by pinfall

Bray Wyatt vs John Cena

Will they do it?  Do they have the balls to put Wyatt over the golden boy at Mania?  God I hope they do.  Wyatt is one of the most intoxicating, exciting and interesting characters the WWE has cooked together in a long time.  He lives the gimmick in a way that only Taker seems to have done in the past and I’m 100% behind him.  A win against Cena at Mania pushes him from a character wrestler to a big deal.  I think he will win, but I don’t think they will have the balls to do it clean so I imagine the family will play a hand in it.

Brock Lesnar vs The Undertaker

The build to this one has been a bit lacklustre but these two will pull it out of the bag.  Saying that this is the only wrestling match I’ve ever gone into actually scared for one of the competitors.  With the style Brock works isn’t it possible he will just break ‘Taker?  These two are good and they are good enough to ensure this is almost already a classic.  At the end of the day there’s no chance that Lesnar will break the streak but every year I say that and every year Taker manages to convince me he’s about to lose.  Either way the Undertaker will march on.

Undertaker wins by pinfall

Daniel Bryan vs HHH

Part of me would be 100% behind HHH pinning Bryan and ending Wrestlemania by winning the title.  Just because it would be hilarious.  However, we all know they can’t do that?  Don’t we?  I expect this to be the good match, HHH has always worked well when in the ring with a pro and Bryan is much more than a pro.  I imagine HHH will beat the crap out of him, not for his own ego but because it’s the best story to tell before doing the right thing and tapping out to the Yes lock.  Bryan then gooes into the main event already injured after overcoming one of the best of all time?  Adding extra spice to an already great story.

Bryan wins by submission

Bryan vs Batista vs Orton

The story continues here and Bryan’s wins.  It’s all they can do and it’s the best thing they can do.  There is something to be said for surprise,s but sometimes all there is to do is follow a story to it’s natural end, this stories natural end is Bryan leading a Wrestlemania crowd in chanting yes as we go off the air.  I hope these guys can put together a great match but I doubt it.  Batista is a shell of his former self and his former shelf wasn’t that great.  Therefore it falls to Orton and Bryan and while those guys have had alright matches something is always missing.  It doesn’t really matter anyway as what people will remember about this is who gets there hand raised at the end.

  1. I just want to say that nothing in the world could be worse than last year’s Mania. That was atrocious!

By the way, maybe I’m dreaming, but I swear I’ve heard Triple H say, “Daniel, when I bury your ass at Mania…!”, which I’m so amused by. Did that really happen or is it a figment of my imagination? either way, so accurate, if The Game was to inexplicably go over!
