Stardom’s second outing from the 16th is the show where everything will finally add up and put us in position for the final night of the 5STAR blocks. We’re going to come out the other side of this with a much clearer idea of who has a shot at winning this thing, and that’s rather exciting.

With three shows left in the group stage of the 5STAR Grand Prix, we’re finally getting to the point where everyone is going to catch-up and have wrestled the same number of matches (excluding a couple who because of the Utami and Jungle injuries will finish up over these shows in Fukuoka). That means that by the end of the next two reviews, we should have a good idea of who is in line to win this thing. Excited? I am.

With the 5STAR drawing ever nearer to the end, Stardom’s second show from Osaka on the 14th was getting serious. We’re getting to the point where people are going to start being eliminated although, sadly, this show would see someone have that happen for all the wrong reasons.

Another big shout out to the people behind the scenes at Stardom who got these matches up super quick. They ran two shows on the 14th, so I can only assume it was a busy day, and after the kerfuffle at the start of the tournament, they’ve been fantastic at getting things back on track. As for the wrestling itself, the 5STAR’s finishing line is drawing ever closer, but there is still plenty of time for twists and turns before we get there.

I told you that my very complicated maths said I’d be all caught up on the 5STAR before the next show. Sure, I am struggling to keep a handle on how many points everyone has and the number of matches they’ve wrestled, but ask me to figure out how much wrestling I can cram into a period and there are no issues at all. Anyway, on with the show!

With things appearing to have returned to normal at Stardom HQ (fingers crossed), we can return to the important business of reviewing the 5STAR. We’re obviously behind schedule, but then everyone is, so we’re not going to stress about that. Let’s sit back and enjoy the wrestling instead.

Every AEW show feels like a big one this early in their fledgeling life as a wrestling company, but with their TV debut drawing ever closer, keeping the momentum up has to be their prime goal. Could All Out do that? Or would it be their first major misstep?

Well, this took a while to turn up, didn’t it? Not only that, it’s apparent some changes are going on behind the scenes in Stardom, and I don’t think they’re necessarily good ones. The quality of the presentation on these videos, especially the subtitles, has dropped and, by the sounds of things, Sonny (who runs the English Twitter and I believe does the subtitling) is no longer doing it. I’ve no idea why, but he’s asked if anyone has complaints to Tweet at Stardom, so if you feel similarly to me, maybe do that.
Anyway, this is the third show of the 5STAR Grand Prix and the first of two that Stardom held in Osaka that day. Christ, just thinking about that sounds exhausting.

I had a lovely time reviewing the 5STAR for the first time and was only kept from going straight into this show by the need to wait for it to be uploaded (no complaints, Stardom are going a good job in getting them up). Day one gave us a great match and a handful of very good ones, so day two has a lot to live up to. Can they do it? Why not?

A quick note before we start, the hard camera for this show was all over the place. It hadn’t been stabilised and was wobbling about. There also appeared to be a couple of people having a quiet chat right next to it which was picked up on the microphone at times. Neither issue was a disaster, but if you are annoyed by things like that, you’re going to have a rough time.
Anyway, it’s Stardom at Korakuen which is almost guaranteed to be a good time at this point. Throw in Jungle Kyona vs Arisa Hoshiki, and you can probably upgrade the good to lovely.
