NJPW World Tag League Night Fifteen Review

The word unsexy is too sexy a word for this card. This is one to be endured rather than to be enjoyed. Let’s dish out some stars.

The Bullet Club (Hangman Page and Yujiro Takahashi) (8) defeated Suzuki-gun (Minoru Suzuki and Takashi Iizuka) (6) by disqualification

Why are people still surprised when Suzuki-gun attacks them before the bell? How do you not see it coming?

I’m not going to review this. From bell to bell it went around five and a half minutes and about half of that was spent outside the ring. Throw in a dumb finish and what’s the point?

Instead, let’s talk about Hangman Page, a wrestler that I’ve never clicked with. However, I recently listened to his Art of Wrestling appearance and – as Colt’s podcasts tend to do – it gave me a picture of the man behind the wrestler. Suddenly, I care. A guy who meant little to me now has a story, and that story makes me want to root for him. I wish more wrestling companies would learn from that.

That didn’t change the fact this was garbage.

Verdict: One Star

CHAOS (Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI) (8) defeated Yuji Nagata and Manabu Nakanishi (2)

After the first match, these four men could have come out, pulled down their pants and farted into a kazoo. It would have been an improvement. Thankfully, they didn’t do that. Nakanishi was in the ring, it would have been ugly.

What they did do was have a perfectly acceptable wrestling match. Nothing to write home about but something that while it was on, I enjoyed. I would have preferred Nakanishi and Nagata’s roles to be swapped, as the big man spent most of his time in the ring and yet he did as well as can be expected.

I will say that despite not being a massive fan of the Goto YOSHI tag team, I do like their new finisher. That elevated GTR looks pretty brutal and, if anything, it’s better than the original.

Verdict: Three Stars

Overall Show

More Suzuki stuff.

One garbage match and one perfectly acceptable one. To be honest, that can almost be taken as a win at this point. I only hated half of the show. We’ve got three more of these left and then the finals before it’s over and done with. It can’t come quickly enough.
