Clash of Champions and the Problem with Raw

Raw has a tendency to fall a bit flat. On the weekly TV show, I tend to put that down to its mammoth runtime which has both the crowd in the arena and those sitting at home feeling exhausted by the time the main event comes around. It’s just too much wrestling to watch every week, especially when a lot of it is filler. However, on Sunday night that feeling transferred over to Clash of Champions, despite it being a show that had none of that filler.

Love Zombies – Passionfruit

There’s a pretty good chance that one day I will look back and split my life into two distinct sections. Pre and post ‘Robots & Aliens’. The stupidly infectious song from Love Zombies has been running through my head ever since I first put on Passionfruit and I’m genuinely not sure it will ever leave. To be honest, I might even be okay with that.

Blair Witch (2016)

Despite the claims of those who are either lacking in imagination or presumably spent the entire time with their eyes focused on a phone, The Blair Witch Project is a scary film. I also consider myself to be fairly knowledgeable about that world. I’ve been a fan for a long time, and I know the difference between a lariat and a clothesline (something that has yet to be useful in finding gainful employment). And yet there are countless brilliant matches I have never seen, particularly when it comes to older stuff. So in an attempt to fix that I have decided to go back to the first ever match Dave Meltzer gave five stars too and work my way forward while documenting my thoughts for all you lovely people. Now, a few things before we begin. I am aware Meltzer is not the be all and end all; there are other matches I should see. I’m also not sure how easy it will be to get all of these; I might have to miss out a few, but I will do my best. Anyway, let’s get started.

Backlash

While Raw has had a pretty solid start to life in the post-brand split WWE, it has been SmackDown that has caught the eye. Even with their limited roster, they have slowly been putting together a weekly television show that is worth watching. However, even the most ardent of fans must have questioned how that tiny roster would manage when asked to carry a PPV by themselves.
