Tag League kicked off in earnest with Stardom running two shows on one day in Osaka. It’s a nice quirk of fate that they are running a Tag League at the same time as New Japan just after the Bushiroad purchase. The companies might not be working closely together, but it’s still going to be fun to see which one is better. My money is on Stardom.

It’s all change in the world of Stardom, as Bushiroad buying the company has worried some and excited others. Personally, I’m optimistic about the future, as it feels like the perfect time to put more money into Stardom and discover what their ceiling is. Plus, if it’s a choice between Bushiroad and WWE, there’s no real contest.
Anyway, this was a packed Korakuen with two big title defences, the start of World Tag League and a rookie taking on her master. Let’s see what went down.

The 5STAR might be over, but Stardom wasn’t going to let it go without saying goodbye. Not only do we have another Arisa title defence, but the High Speed belt is on the line too, as Death Yama-san gets her chance to regain her gold. Ready? You better be.

All good things must come to an end, and the 5STAR Grand Prix is definitely a good thing. The last show will see both blocks come to a conclusion and give us the final too, so strap in for a packed night of wrestling. Who is going to take home the crown? With the 5STAR drawing ever nearer to the end, Stardom’s second show from Osaka on the 14th was getting serious. We’re getting to the point where people are going to start being eliminated although, sadly, this show would see someone have that happen for all the wrong reasons.

Another big shout out to the people behind the scenes at Stardom who got these matches up super quick. They ran two shows on the 14th, so I can only assume it was a busy day, and after the kerfuffle at the start of the tournament, they’ve been fantastic at getting things back on track. As for the wrestling itself, the 5STAR’s finishing line is drawing ever closer, but there is still plenty of time for twists and turns before we get there.

I told you that my very complicated maths said I’d be all caught up on the 5STAR before the next show. Sure, I am struggling to keep a handle on how many points everyone has and the number of matches they’ve wrestled, but ask me to figure out how much wrestling I can cram into a period and there are no issues at all. Well, this took a while to turn up, didn’t it? Not only that, it’s apparent some changes are going on behind the scenes in Stardom, and I don’t think they’re necessarily good ones. The quality of the presentation on these videos, especially the subtitles, has dropped and, by the sounds of things, Sonny (who runs the English Twitter and I believe does the subtitling) is no longer doing it. I’ve no idea why, but he’s asked if anyone has complaints to Tweet at Stardom, so if you feel similarly to me, maybe do that.
Anyway, this is the third show of the 5STAR Grand Prix and the first of two that Stardom held in Osaka that day. Christ, just thinking about that sounds exhausting.
